The Juvenile Probation Officer is responsible for analyzing and screening cases referred to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center. This role involves providing services and supervision to juveniles and their families, ensuring compliance with treatment plans, and monitoring adherence to court orders. The officer will develop individualized treatment plans, assess the needs of probationers, and facilitate their rehabilitation while maintaining accurate documentation and communication with relevant parties.

  • Analyze and screen assigned juvenile cases referred to the Juvenile Justice Center.
  • Provide services and supervise assigned juveniles and their families under Texas Family Code and departmental policies.
  • Assess individual treatment needs of probationers and assign appropriate levels of supervision.
  • Develop treatment plans tailored to the needs of each probationer and their family.
  • Monitor compliance with court orders and report violations to the court.
  • Receive incoming juvenile referrals and make personal contact within 5 working days.
  • Determine appropriate actions for referrals based on case facts and assessments.
  • Refer juveniles to appropriate service agencies within 2 weeks of needs determination.
  • Maintain accurate statistical information on caseworker system regarding each child.
  • Conduct initial interviews and complete required paperwork within specified timeframes.
  • Reassess individual case plans every 30 days or as needed.
  • Provide counseling, crisis intervention, and assessment/referral to youths and families.
  • File violations of probation and new referrals with the Criminal District Attorney's office in a timely manner.
  • Take juveniles into custody according to policy and utilize non-violent restraint methods when necessary.
  • Prepare reports, applications, and statistical information as required.
  • Transport juveniles and/or parents to necessary appointments and sessions.
  • Facilitate group counseling sessions and classes for probationers.
  • 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Child Development Associate Certification.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Computer skills for documentation and case management.
  • Public speaking skills.
  • Experience with juvenile justice systems.
  • Knowledge of Texas Family Code and Texas Penal Code.
