About The Position

The Juvenile Probation Officer I & II positions are responsible for investigating clients and families to develop rehabilitation plans and implement welfare services. The role involves conducting assessments, making recommendations, and collaborating with community agencies to support at-risk youth and their families. Officers will attend court proceedings to provide testimony and recommendations, ensuring that the needs of clients are met through effective intervention and support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related field for JPO I; Human Services, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field for JPO II.
• 3 to 5 years of related work experience with case management for JPO I; 5 to 7 years for JPO II.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License.
• Michigan Judicial Institute Juvenile Probation Officer Certification for JPO II.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and inquiries to identify areas of need for clients, including minors and at-risk youth.
• Attend and participate in court proceedings, gathering information for comprehensive case analysis.
• Supervise and monitor clients through face-to-face or phone contacts in various settings.
• Collaborate and coordinate services with various agencies and departments.
• Complete required paperwork for court proceedings, including reports and documentation.
• Respond to crises and provide intervention, reassessing client and family needs.
