Under the direct supervision of the Youth and Community Engagement Supervisor, the Youth Specialist is responsible for youth transportation, meal preparation, restorative justice implementation, and structured recreation and facilitation of social/emotional education groups. The Youth Specialist will assist youth in creating individual development plans to support progress in education, life skills, and employment areas. This role requires continuous training in best practices and knowledge of trauma exposure, including the 5 S' of trauma: Safety, Self-Regulation/Soothing, Supportive, Strengths, Self-Care, and an understanding of the signs of traumatic stress. Frequent utilization of the agency vehicle for transport of youth multiple times a day is expected. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, and the mentor must have the flexibility to adjust their work schedule to the needs of the program, including working mornings, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.
