About The Position

The Juvenile Intake Specialist position at Johnson County Government involves supporting the juvenile intake and assessment process at the Juvenile Services Center in Olathe, Kansas. Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college coursework in human services or related field OR two years of experience working with youth and families.
• Must successfully pass a criminal history check.
• Possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must not be registered on the Kansas child/adult registry.
• Must submit to and pass a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Family or Human Sciences/Studies, Criminal Justice or relevant field preferred.
• Knowledge of community resources is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes the intake process with the alleged CINC and/or alleged juvenile offender.
• Meets and discusses with those directly involved with the youth, including law enforcement and family members.
• Completes the required psychosocial interview with the juvenile and administers screening instruments.
• Initiates and completes the booking process and gathers necessary demographic and historical information.
• Ensures all reports are received from law enforcement prior to their departure from JIAC.
• Makes referrals for housing and supervision placement decisions.
• Works with providers and community resources to explore service options for juveniles and their families.
• Processes data entry and paperwork within a strict timeline.
• Provides detailed reports for each intake completed.
