Yamhill County is accepting applications for on-call/relief Juvenile Corrections Technicians. This position functions as the first-line officer and is responsible for the care, welfare, and supervision of youth in the detention facility or designated program and as such, requires the application of specialized knowledge in the area of juvenile corrections. The position handles difficult and delinquent discipline problems by using corrections techniques and established disciplinary controls, restrains combative youth as necessary, and makes quick and intelligent decisions in crisis situations. Duties include performing crisis intervention functions to include counseling, suicide prevention, recognizing abnormal behavior, and taking appropriate action. The Juvenile Corrections Division operates on a 7-day-per-week, 24-hour schedule. Applicants must be available able to work 8- or 10-hour shifts which include days, swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays.
