About The Position

The Juvenile Correctional Officer II General Maintenance position at CYFD is responsible for the general and preventive maintenance of assigned buildings within the facility. This role involves maintaining all physical plant systems, including plumbing, emergency power generation, and safety inspections, while ensuring the security of clients during work details. The position requires collaboration with the Physical Plant supervisor and involves various skilled maintenance tasks both indoors and outdoors.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in psychology, guidance and counseling, penology, sociology, social work, or criminology and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, or relevant work experience as it relates to the purpose of the position.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 4 years of experience, or an Associate's degree in any field AND 4 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in the specified fields with no experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in repairs of physical plant building systems.
  • Experience supervising at-risk youth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work indoors and outdoors.
  • Conduct general maintenance and repairs to assigned building structures.
  • Assist other Physical Plant personnel with technical repairs/maintenance as needed.
  • Escort outside contractors during projects.
  • Maintain equipment and tools.
  • Prepare work orders.
  • Maintain client security while engaging them in work details.
  • Prepare accurate written reports.
  • Maintain confidential files.
  • Project planning and project monitoring.
  • Inventory control.
  • Conduct safety inspections.
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, services, and resources according to State of New Mexico Law.
  • Purchase supplies and ensure correct vendor payments are made according to CYFD Policy.
  • Assist with Emergency Management activities when needed.
