About The Position

The Justice Programs Director is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating programs aimed at serving adult and juvenile offenders. The role focuses on promoting productive and rehabilitative options within the criminal justice system, exercising independent judgment and initiative to enhance public safety and reduce recidivism. The director will collaborate with various justice system partners and community leaders to achieve strategic goals and objectives related to justice programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, planning, or a closely related field such as social work, human services, or counseling.
• Master's Degree in criminal justice preferred.
• Minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible experience in a criminal justice setting preferred.
• Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) certification preferred.
• Applied experience in offender programming and risk and need assessment required.
• Experience in program development and management, and conducting upper-level administrative duties.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate programs for adult and juvenile offenders.
• Work with justice system partners including circuit court judges, jail administration, and probation and parole staff.
• Provide direct services to offenders as needed to support existing resources.
• Collaborate with elected officials, community leaders, and the Portage County Justice Coalition on justice issues.
• Assist in evaluating system-wide justice issues and achieving Portage County strategic goals.
• Implement research-based practices in offender programming.
