About The Position

The Justice Information and Referral Specialist, an OCHN Justice Initiatives team member embedded in the Oakland County Jail, provides clerical, data, and information related technical support to the jail-based mental health program and related staff. The Specialist ensures efficient triaging and scheduling of referrals and on-going appointments, record keeping with the Electronic Health Record and other data system, managing consent forms, and assisting with departmental inquiries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of four (4) years related clerical or technical support experience. Related coursework at a business school, college or university may be substituted for up to two (2) years’ experience.
  • Trauma training, Welle, CPI, First AID/CPR
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency with Word, Excel, database, and other relevant software programs.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills both in direct personal interactions and on the telephone.
  • Demonstrated high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of relatively complex assignments accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills needed to establish office procedures and maintain files and records.
  • Must have available means of transportation to and from OCHN and for required offsite meetings or site visits.
  • Ability to work independently, while functioning as a member of a larger team
  • Knowledge of the OCHN system, providers, eligibility criteria and community referral resources

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in a mental health field, or business field
  • Experience in public mental health system

Responsibilities

  • Triages referrals and schedules initial / on-going appointments with the jail-based mental health medical staff
  • Documents and updates information in electronic healthcare record
  • Establish and maintain administrative procedures, files, and records
  • Perform complex clerical assignments such as developing forms, establishing, and maintaining appropriate databases. Create reports as needed.
  • Answer phones and respond to general inquiries regarding departmental policies and procedures.
  • Obtain signatures from individuals within the jail as needed.
  • Time sensitive monitoring of individuals’ chart
  • Handle KITES and hoarding forms regarding medication concerns from OCJ individuals
  • Assist medical staff/psychiatrists with technology issues, including assisting individuals in connecting via devices
  • Track weekly discharge scripts and coordinate with medical staff and team coordinator for completion
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Trauma Informed care principals, assisting individuals according to OCHN mission and values
  • Work closely with other OCHN liaisons, who intersect with Justice partners pre and/or post release.
  • Attend required internal or external meetings
  • Assist in data sharing efforts between OCHN and justice partners
  • Additional duties, as assigned.
