Overview FM - San Francisco Operations, is currently accepting applications for a Jurisdictional Consultant in the State of California. This position is primarily responsible for conducting in-service inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with the applicable jurisdiction. Ideally located in the San Joaquin Valley between Fresno and Sacramento.

  • Conduct in-service inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with applicable jurisdiction.
  • Manage assigned service group (territory) and perform week-long travel with some overnight hotel stays.
  • Work independently and make intelligent decisions related to travel, work expenses, report timeliness, time management, and use of company equipment.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Rules, ASME Code of Construction, and applicable jurisdictional laws.
  • Supervised by the Operations Chief Inspector - San Francisco Operations.
  • Conduct inspections at low to high exposure locations and occupancies to eliminate or mitigate risk factors.
  • Experience in the Pressure Equipment Industry in one or more of the following: Engineering or Design Review, Manufacturing or boiler and pressure vessel construction, Operation of a Steam Plant 50,000 pounds per hour, Repairs, Alteration or Maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels, Inspection of Boilers or Pressure Vessels, NDE Examiner of Boilers or Pressure Vessels.
  • Microsoft Office applications experience.
  • Associate degree from a 2-year technical/vocational school or engineering college, or a high school diploma (GED acceptable) with technical working knowledge of boiler and machinery equipment.
  • Candidates with a National Board In-Service Commission (IS) and/or state commissions within State of California are preferred.
  • Ability to complete an assigned training course and pass the National Board IS Commission test within six months of employment.
  • Minimum of five (5) credit points based on education and experience in the pressure equipment industry.
  • National Board 'R' endorsement.
  • Knowledge of Jurisdiction Online database system.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Additional National Board Endorsements.
