About The Position

Partners General Insurance Agency, LLC, a subsidiary of K2 Insurance Services, LLC, is seeking a full-time Junior Underwriter to join their underwriting team.  Remote position. Founded in 2001, Partners General is a managing underwriter for general liability and excess liability programs offered in all 50 states. Acquired by San Diego-based K2 Insurance Services in 2018, Partners General continues to expand its product offerings by developing new insurance programs for national distribution. Partners General offers the opportunity to join an established company in growth mode.  Our compensation package includes competitive pay; bonus plan; medical, dental, vision insurance; unlimited paid time-off (PTO) in year of hire; and 401(k) with employer match.  Position Overview We are seeking a Junior Underwriter to support new business production through front-end submission screening and underwriting of small commercial accounts. This role focuses on Commercial General Liability and Excess Liability, with a strong emphasis on construction-related risks. The Junior Underwriter will manage submission triage, quoting within defined authority, and routing eligible risks to senior underwriting staff. This position plays a critical role in ensuring underwriting efficiency, consistent submission handling, and timely responses to brokers.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial underwriting, underwriting support, or insurance operations
  • Solid understanding of Commercial General Liability and Excess Liability products
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume workflow with accuracy and timely turnaround
  • Production-driven mindset with a focus on new business growth
  • Effective communication skills for broker and internal partner interaction

Nice To Haves

  • Experience underwriting or evaluating construction-related risks preferred
  • Institute designations not required, by advantageous and preferred

Responsibilities

  • Review all incoming broker submissions for eligibility and underwriting appetite
  • Evaluate submissions for premium size, account type, and complexity
  • Ensure all submissions are acknowledged, logged, and tracked consistently
  • Quote new business Commercial General Liability and Excess Liability accounts within an established Junior Underwriter authority
  • Underwrite and manage small commercial accounts in accordance with underwriting guidelines
  • Maintain ownership of assigned accounts throughout the policy lifecycle
  • Identifying and referring appropriate risks to senior underwriting staff for advanced underwriting review
