About the Role We are seeking a Brake Dyno Engineer to support brake system testing and validation activities using LINK Brake Dynamometers. This position is now open to Junior to Mid‑Level candidates with a solid technical background and interest in brake testing, dynamometer operation, and laboratory environments. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with LINK systems, including PROLINK software, and is capable of writing or modifying brake test scripts. The role also involves coordination with our counterparts in Windsor, Canada (ARDC), along with test planning and component management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent laboratory/technical experience.
  • Open to Junior to Mid‑Level profiles (approx. 3+ years preferred, but flexible depending on skillset).
  • Experience with LINK dynamometers or comparable brake test systems.
  • Familiarity with PROLINK software or demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of brake system components (calipers, pads, rotors, hydraulics).
  • Ability to manage multiple tests and shifting priorities in a laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of experience in brake testing, dynamometer operation, or automotive validation.
  • Strong experience in PROLINK scripting.
  • Data analysis skills (Excel, MATLAB, Minitab, or similar).
  • Experience with modern LINK dyno platforms (3900/3000 series).
  • Background working with OEM engineering processes.
  • Strong organization and task management skills.
  • Clear communication with U.S. and Canadian teams.
  • Attention to detail, technical curiosity, and problem‑solving mindset.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate LINK Brake Dynos for brake performance, durability, and development testing.
  • Use PROLINK software to run tests, monitor test parameters, and analyze system outputs.
  • Write, modify, and optimize brake test scripts in PROLINK according to internal procedures and test requirements.
  • Troubleshoot dynamometer issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, sensors, or DAQ systems appropriate to the candidate’s experience level.
  • Coordinate, plan, and schedule tests with engineering teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate with partner teams at ARDC Windsor; occasional travel to Canada may be required.
  • Manage test part logistics, including tracking, ordering, receiving, and verifying correct components (pads, rotors, calipers, fixtures).
  • Coordinate the design and preparation of test fixtures with internal engineering or suppliers.
  • Set up sensors (thermocouples, torque cells, pressure transducers, wheel speed sensors, etc.) and perform necessary calibrations.
  • Analyze brake test results such as torque curves, fade performance, thermal behavior, and wear data.
  • Validate data quality and identify test issues or anomalies.
  • Generate clear, detailed test reports summarizing test conditions, findings, trends, and recommendations.
