SecuriGence seeks a Junior Technical Writer with communication and writing abilities to support complex technological innovation throughout the agency. In this position, you will work closely with the product, engineering, operations, security, and other teams to create clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for a variety of audiences on behalf of the Information Technology Directorate to ensure that all IT support is not only met but exceeded to enable the development of the most innovative technology in the country. In this fast-paced environment, you will not only require technical comprehension, but agile process and development understanding, and an ability to work with all personalities, including engineers, developers, cybersecurity experts, elite academics, active-duty military, and more. Attention to detail, flexibility, and self-motivation are also keys to success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • 3+ years of experience with developing and editing Technical Documentation.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance.
  • Hybrid work arrangement, with 1–2 days onsite
  • Excellent interpersonal, active listening, and influencing skills; able to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with team members.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable.
  • Ability to receive and implement feedback and provide feedback on documents and processes.
  • Ability to work out solutions to problems or questions relating to technical writing; strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with strong proofreading and/or editorial skills.
  • Ability to synthesize and convey strategic, complex, and detailed information.
  • Familiarity with drafting, design, and content management tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Rob Help, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, and Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Author, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Memoranda (e.g., authorization and appointment letters), Templates, Diagrams, etc., and ensure adherence to quality and formatting standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) such as engineers, product managers, and Responsible Individuals (RI) to review and edit documentation with a focus on technical accuracy and usability.
  • Understand the target audience for different documents and tailor the content accordingly to ensure it is clear, user-friendly, and effective.
  • Write and edit technical documents and manage content at all stages of development.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s documentation processes and standards.
  • Work with direction and supervision, but with high levels of independence.
  • Utilize skills and experience in the specific subject matter area to create high-quality documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
