Battelle is seeking a Systems Administrator (Linux) for a position located in Beavercreek / Dayton OH. The System Administrator (Linux) will assist the team with administration and technical issues with both networked and standalone Linux systems. They will act as a liaison between a regional office in Beavercreek focusing on customer on-site support and the corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. A key responsibility will be to maintain smooth and seamless IT operations between these entities. Core responsibilities will be administering, maintaining, refreshing, and ensuring compliance of compute assets used to support our client and team. The applicant should have demonstratable exposure and/or experience as a helpdesk resource and be willing to work directly with end-users. A successful candidate will be capable of assisting in the creation of technical presentations and reports, working semi-autonomously on open problems, and participating in client interactions and tests.

  • Assist the team in establishing, using, and maintaining IT systems and networks needed for software development and data processing.
  • Coordinate between cognizant corporate and customer entities to establish SOPs meeting the needs of existing workflows.
  • Provide customer IT/IA support with expert counsel when knowledge gaps occur.
  • Administer, maintain, refresh, and ensure compliance of compute assets.
  • Be cognizant of the security and accreditation of relevant networks and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer information systems or related degree and 4+ years of work experience or equivalent experience.
  • Technical expertise with Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, etc.).
  • Experience as a Linux administrator.
  • Experience with software lifecycle management.
  • Willingness to work directly with end-users.
  • The credentials necessary to mitigate cybersecurity threats and assess risk (e.g. CompTIA Security+ Certification, CASP+, CISSP, etc.).
  • Experience working with ISSO and ISSM counterparts.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171, DoDI 8310.01 and similar security compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIG process, particularly related to Linux OS.
  • A current TS security clearance.
  • Familiarity with Chef or Ansible for Windows and Linux.
  • Familiarity with setting up and maintaining virtual machines and networks.
  • Familiarity with storage system administration.
  • Familiarity with network administration.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing and high-performance computing environments.
  • Previous experience as an ISSO or relevant credentials.
  • SCI eligibility.
