You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently recruiting for a Junior Structural Engineer to join our Minerals and Metals Business line in the Tucson office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural engineering from a recognized University.
  • Ideally registered as a Professional Engineer (P. E.) within the US.
  • Experience in structural design engineering with experience in engineering design of mining and process plant projects.
  • Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment.
  • Proficiency in application of US Codes and Standards.
  • Proven ability to work with a team to conceptualize project layouts, and optimize designs is a must.
  • Familiarity with structural dynamics, earthquake engineering and FEA modelling, is considered a strong asset.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering design software SAP2000 and/or STAAD.Pro.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, NavisWorks and SmartPlant would be considered an asset.
  • Experienced in dealing with clients and contractors directly.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost effective structural engineering designs from conceptual design to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with US Codes and Standards.
  • Perform analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
  • Prepare material take-off of steel and concrete.
  • Prepare specifications, design criteria and scope of work documents.
  • Work directly with drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages.
