About The Position

We are currently searching for an experienced Junior Structural CAD Technician to support our Southwest Region located in Texas. This position involves providing assistance to engineers in creating bridge detail plans and performing minor design work on bridge projects. The role requires a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or a similar field and at least 3 years of prior experience with structural drafting.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
  • 3-10 years of prior experience with structural and/or roadway drafting
  • Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred
  • Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual and TxDOT Bridge Standards
  • Experience in Open Road Designer is preferred
  • Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

  • Experience in Open Road Designer
  • Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to engineers using OpenBridge Designer to create bridge detail plans and perform minor design work on bridge projects
  • Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
  • Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
  • Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Road Designer and Open Bridge Designer
  • Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
  • Research design options and document findings
  • Coordinate assignments with project team and supervisor
  • Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Be a team player and assist other groups as needed
