About The Position

As a Junior SQL and Oracle Database Administrator, you will be a working database administrator. We are looking for technical expertise in designing, building, tuning, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and management of databases for SQL Server and Oracle. This position will include (but is not limited to) the following standard DBA tasks below. You will report to the Supervisor Database Administration and be located at Cranberry Township. This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in office and 2 remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology or related field
  • 0+ years of proven support in a SQL Server and Oracle database environments
  • Experience with Oracle and SQL Server standalone and clustered environments
  • Experience with Oracle 12c and 19c
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Experience troubleshooting for critical database, networking and system administration issues
  • Fully document technical design and related project or systems-level documentation

Responsibilities

  • Review, tests, recommends and installs upgrades of database software, including patches and major releases.
  • Perform database backup and recovery, including periodic testing.
  • Upgrade, configure and maintain server and database monitoring software to baseline system performance and identify (and remedy) potential issues. Resource monitoring and capacity planning.
  • Review, test, update and document detailed disaster recovery/business continuity plans for main production servers.
  • Modify the database structure from information given by application developers.
  • Create documentation for all procedures.
  • Enroll users and maintain system security, controlling and monitoring user access to the database.
  • The primary responsibilities of this position occur during business hours, however there is some evening and weekend work related to projects, planned maintenance, and on-call support.
