We are ready to hire a junior C++ Software Engineer to develop software for a next-generation sonar array for future United States Navy submarines, pioneering the use of AI in mission-critical systems. This role will heavily rely on AI-generated software, and your primary responsibility will be to craft effective prompts to produce code. You will then apply your deep engineering expertise to take that AI-generated code and make it function correctly by debugging, refining, and integrating it with other pieces of the system. As a key member of our team, your talent for blending prompt engineering with hands-on software integration and testing will be front and center. You will be instrumental in transforming AI-generated concepts into robust, fully functional, and tested applications that allow the Navy to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
- Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.
- A foundational understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
- Familiarity with the software development process from academic or internship experience.
- Experience with C++ from coursework, projects, or internships.
- An interest in real-time systems, signal processing, or high-throughput data management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A desire to learn and grow your technical skills.
- Creative thinking and an ability to manage assigned tasks.
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainble within a reasonable amount of time from hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Nice To Haves
- Agile experience preferred
- Familiarity with using AI tools for development is a plus.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and/or GPU architecture.
Responsibilities
- Develop C++ applications within a Linux environment as part of a team to meet system requirements for the Navy.
- Develop and optimize applications running on GPU architecture using CUDA.
- Assist in implementing complex sonar signal processing algorithms.
- Learn to manage high-rate data messaging and ensure precision timing constraints are met.
- Utilize AI prompts to generate and run functional code to meet system requirements
- Write code, test, integrate and document software solutions with guidance from senior engineers.
- Support the analysis of system, functional, and performance requirements.
- Participate in software peer reviews.
- Perform software unit testing and support integration and test activities.
