About The Position

Peraton is seeking an experienced Junior Software Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton's Defense Mission and Health Solutions Sector, Durable Medical Equipment (DME) team. The ideal candidate will serve as a part of an Agile team developing enhancements to the Medicare DME claims processing system. Our teams follow a SAFe agile/scrum development life cycle, responsible to create technical design deliverables, develop new programs, enhance existing programs, build unit test plans, cases, data and execute those tests. The Junior Software Developer installs changes into internal testing regions and fixes discovered defects, following procedures and coding standards in a highly rigorous development environment. The Junior Software Developer plans and executes work assignments in a way to ensure all assigned due dates are met and can identify and implement process improvements and updates to technical documentation. In addition to traditional mainframe work, this position may involve building and updating web APIs, as well as other cloud solutions.

Requirements

  • Requires 2 years of experience with BS/BA
  • Requires 2 years of mainframe development experience.
  • Experienced with mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM.
  • Able to perform well in a highly rigorous development environment
  • Demonstrates experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment
  • Demonstrates ability to determine and decompose business requirements
  • Application lifecycle methodology experience specifically Agile/SCRUM
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing
  • Ability to develop application project solutions and estimating.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DME, Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, or Medicare Common Working File (CWF) specific processing systems
  • Knowledge of health care claims processing
  • Experience working with CMS

Responsibilities

  • Designs, codes, unit tests, and debugs enhancements to the DME claims processing system.

  • Provides time / resource estimates for assigned projects.
