About The Position

We’re looking for a motivated Junior AV Service Technician to join our service team supporting installed audio-visual systems for conference rooms, classrooms, event spaces, houses of worship, and small venues. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone with basic networking skills and a background in audio/visual production—such as high school or college theater, television production/broadcast, or radio/DJ experience—who’s eager to learn professional AV service practices. You’ll be trained to troubleshoot, maintain, and support integrated AV systems both onsite and remotely, collaborating with senior technicians to ensure our clients’ environments operate reliably and deliver consistently high‑quality audio and video performance. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree, trade school, or relevant coursework a plus.
  • 0–2 years in AV, IT help desk, live production, or facilities tech support.
  • Basic proficiency with Windows and/or macOS; familiarity with Zoom, Teams, Webex, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on-site at client locations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • A background in AV production - Experience from theater tech, school TV/broadcast, live sound, radio/DJ, or similar hands-on roles (mic placement, mixing basics, lighting cues, camera setup, patching, stage/booth workflow).
  • Understanding of IP addressing, DHCP vs. static IP, pings, basic switch port/VLAN concepts, and using tools like ipconfig/ifconfig.
  • Familiarity with signal flow, gain structure, balanced vs. unbalanced audio, connectors (XLR, TRS, RCA, HDMI, SDI), and common AV acronyms.
  • Comfortable using process-of-elimination, reading device status LEDs, and following checklists and SOPs.
  • Clear verbal and written communication; able to write concise service notes and updates.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: AVIXA CTS, Dante Level 1/2, Q-SYS Level 1, Biamp/Extron/Crestron Foundations, CompTIA Network+.
  • Experience with one or more ecosystems: Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Sennheiser, Logitech, Poly, Cisco.
  • Basic familiarity with PoE, multicast, AV-over-IP (Dante AV, NDI, SDVoE), and/or control programming concepts.
  • Ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Zendesk, ConnectWise) and asset documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve issues with displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, DSPs, cameras, control processors, and conferencing platforms.
  • Perform basic signal flow checks (audio and video), cable testing, and device power/health verification.
  • Swap and configure common AV components under guidance.
  • Assist with basic network tasks: assigning static IPs, verifying VLAN/port settings, and confirming device connectivity.
  • Support configuration and updates of AV-over-IP gear, control systems, and DSPs per documented procedures.
  • Maintain device firmware inventories and follow change-management practices.
  • Complete scheduled room and system checks, clean and organize AV racks, document equipment health, and escalate risks early 
  • Provide professional, friendly onsite and remote support; accurately document issues, resolutions, and next steps in the ticketing system.
  • Educate end users on basic system operations and best practices.
  • Update as-builts, device lists, and configuration notes.
  • Follow safety protocols, tool checklists, and QA procedures.
