About The Position

The Jr. Science & Technology Protection Specialist will provide functional and specialized support, strategic direction, and oversight of the operations and business functions in support of the AFRL SSO division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in industrial security, government contracting, or military intelligence OR
  • Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in industrial security, government contracting, or military intelligence
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Knowledge and understanding of NISPOM, DCID/ICD regulations, and SCI control systems
  • Proficiency with JPAS/DISS, e-QIP, NISS, and SIMS or similar security databases
  • Knowledge of Physical Security, Personnel Security, and Information Security
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal teams and government representatives
  • Ability to identify vulnerabilities and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple security-related projects
  • Knowledge and understanding, communication, coordination, prioritization, file maintenance, database management, and report and presentation development for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy
  • Decorum is required and no profanity or workplace bullying will be tolerated.
  • Experience with Microsoft (MS) Office Applications (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Skype, Teams, and Word), Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, Zoom, and applications for access to the World Wide Web (WWW) including MS Internet Explorer, Edge, Google Chrome, and Firefox.
  • Experience with G-suite and other common, cloud-based services.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may use repeated motions that include the arms, wrists, hands and/or fingers. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage security programs to protect classified information and facilities
  • Conduct investigations into security violations and prepare incident reports
  • Process and maintain personnel security clearances and visit authorizations
  • Coordinate SCI indoctrinations and debriefings
  • Provide training on security protocols, OPSEC, and physical security measures
  • Ensure compliance with the NISP Operating Manual (NISPOM) and DoD regulations for safeguarding classified information.
  • Interpret and apply DD254 contract security requirements and ensure alignment with government expectations.
  • Collaborate with Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs) to ensure classified systems meet DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Monitor and mitigate risks related to foreign influence on cleared contractors.
  • Open and close SCIFs when required
  • Support the development of security requirements into contractual documentation to include specific security requirements in Statements of Work/Statements of Objectives, RFPs, and Contract Data Requirements Lists, for development planning project contracts.
  • Administratively assist with the coordination of DD Forms 254 and other security requirements/documentation in support of AFLCMC/AFMC activities.
  • Evaluate classified data submittals for compliance with the appropriate Security Classification / Declassification Guide (SC/DG).
  • Assist with development of corrective action plans and ensure corrective action is completed as required.
  • Maintain required personnel security files as required
  • Assist with S&T Protection Plan efforts to include identifying and validating security requirements,
  • Provide guidance to ensure the protection of technologies and related information of various classification levels.
  • Develop or evaluate programs, project, or technology area security risk assessments and analyses,
  • Provide security oversight for all aspects of technology control and S&T protection planning
  • Provide support as a technical security advisor to internal and external entities on matters affecting overall protection architecture.
  • Travel may be required
  • Other duties as assigned.
