About The Position

As a Junior Risk Analyst in our Americas business at RWE Supply & Trading (RWESTA), you’ll be working with a high-visibility trading desk at our New York Office. As the risk controller for this desk, your expertise and ideas will truly matter. You’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring robust risk processes as the team grows, and have real ownership alongside senior management in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. You will be a core team member of the wider US Risk Control team based in Chicago and will report to the Head of US Risk and Revenue Controlling also based in Chicago. Interested? Requirements

  • Academic background in finance, economics, STEM, or comparable subjects
  • Knowledge of market fundamentals, especially as they relate to energy trading or commodities
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into real-world decisions
  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, demonstrating adaptability and a ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’ attitude to shape something new
  • Proficiency in Excel for risk analysis, reporting, and data management
  • Natural collaborator and communicator, comfortable engaging with colleagues across business functions and levels of seniority
  • Excitement to work in a role requiring daily collaboration with the commercial trading team on our state-of-the-art trading floor in central Manhattan

Nice To Haves

  • Working familiarity with advanced risk and analytics tools
  • Technical skills such as SQL, Python, or Tableau

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate market risk and P&L reporting, ensuring timely and insightful information drives daily decisions
  • Oversee and enhance risk controls and compliance, building the guardrails for responsible growth
  • Collaborate globally and cross-functionally, acting as the connector between front office, support functions, and senior leaders
  • Communicate risk insights and key findings to a variety of stakeholders, making complexity clear and actionable
  • Bring an entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset, helping define processes, shape team culture, and make tangible impact on the desk’s and business’ direction
