About The Position

The Junior Reporting Analyst supports the Healthcare Economics function by compiling, validating, and analyzing healthcare, claims, membership, and provider-related data to support physician incentives, operational reporting, and financial decision-making. This role is designed as a developmental position that blends hands-on reporting responsibilities with foundational healthcare economics analysis. Working closely with the Senior Healthcare Economics Analyst and Finance leadership, the Junior HCE Analyst focuses on data accuracy, repeatable reporting, and clear communication of results, while building skills in healthcare utilization, incentives, and value-based performance measurement. In addition, the Junior Reporting Analyst will contribute to the growth and success of HealthTexas while upholding our Mission, Vision and Values. Requirements

  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filters, linked workbooks, and formula tracing.
  • High attention to detail with strong numeracy and reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to follow defined processes while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Proactive, ownership mindset with a willingness to learn new tools and processes and contribute to continuous improvement without distorting the outcome
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to work onsite and collaborate across teams
  • Associate degree (2-year) or equivalent work experience in analytics, reporting, finance, or healthcare operations

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to healthcare metrics, revenue cycle, or provider operations
  • Experience documenting SOPs or building reproducible reporting workflows

Responsibilities

  • Create accurate and meaningful reports for departmental and management decision-making using MS Access, MS Excel, healthcare business intelligence tools and other reporting tools as necessary.
  • Crosstrain to be able to compile, validate, and report A&Q metrics used for physician payroll incentives – ensuring on-time, error-free deliverables
  • Build, maintain, and refresh dashboards and recurring reports; gather and reconcile data from multiple sources
  • Perform data quality checks, trace formulas, and troubleshoot variances across linked workbooks
  • Support utilization, claims, membership, and provider analyses under the guidance of the Senior Healthcare Economics Analyst.
  • Assist with trend analysis, basic utilization review, and identification of anomalies or emerging patterns in healthcare data.
  • Use Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filters) to develop repeatable reporting solutions and document processes
  • Partner with various departments to clarify requirements and translate them into clear, actionable reports
  • Serve as backup and reviewer of other HCE/Analytic associates, supporting monthly/quarterly cycles and ad-hoc analyses
  • Support company-wide initiatives to improve processes and streamline and integrate systems to improve data consistency and integrity.
