About The Position

Mercer University is searching for a Junior Programmer Analyst/Programmer Analyst/Senior Programmer Analyst on the Macon, Georgia campus. Level to be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate. The primary purpose of this position is working with data to produce reports and computer systems that provide timely and accurate information to our end users in the performance of their jobs. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the integrity, validity, and security of all data and data systems within the confines of the University computing systems. The incumbent will also provide third-level technical support for applications and end users throughout the University. This will include working with 3rd party vendors for additional support.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer programming, or a closely related field is required.
  • One year of progressive experience in programming with object-oriented methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases and basic knowledge of TSQL language.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft.Net framework, Visual Studio, Visual Basic, C#, T-SQL, SSMS, SSIS, and SSRS.
  • Ability to produce applications work product from end-user specifications and requirements with a moderate level of supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to explain the difference between a Stored Procedure, View, and Function.
  • Microsoft SQL Server experience.
  • Experience with version control platforms such as Git or Visual Source Safe.
  • Programming experience with C# or VB.Net.

Responsibilities

  • Write web application programs using Microsoft.Net and C# language per established requirements and specifications.
  • Work with SQL Server database systems using T-SQL language performing basic CRUD activities.
  • Produce documentation and logic flows of all work performed as assigned.
  • Evaluate, plan, coordinate, and execute software system upgrades.
  • Design, develop and troubleshoot SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages.
  • Assist the department head in requirements gathering, design, development and documentation of work products.
