About The Position

To assist with providing engineering expertise in molded part design and manufacturing, with a focus on plastic injection molding while working in Research and Development with multifunctional design and engineering teams to design new products and support production

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, OR Associate’s Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field with at least 6 years of related engineering experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now, or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Proven successful integration of A surface modeling with B surface modeling preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical assembly preferred
  • Intermediate working knowledge of plastic injection molding processes, plastic material properties, and plastic part designs preferred
  • Intermediate working knowledge of plastics engineering technology, molded part design, and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Intermediate working knowledge of product design, tooling design, and plastics production processing preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) part design, construction, and production preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards preferred
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) utilization preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of PLM or Product Data Management (PDM) systems preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) durable medical goods design practices preferred
  • Basic understanding of Lean Principles preferred
  • Lift/push/pull 40 lbs. preferred
  • At least 1 year of hands-on engineering experience in an environment supporting design, manufacturing, or technical processes preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in designing plastic components for mechanical systems and assemblies preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience with the specific products preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience using PLM or PDM software preferred
  • At least 1 year of hand-on experience in the design, manufacturing or assembly of Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) structures preferred
  • Current or previous successful employment experience with Pride Mobility Products Corporation preferred
  • Course or training related to Materials Science, Polymers and/or Materials Selection preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multifunctional design and engineering teams to ensure projects and components meet specified requirements and timelines
  • Assist in the specification and evaluation of plastic materials
  • Create and document designs using 2D, 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Assist with validating designed parts and assemblies by performing physical tests and measurements while assisting in the specification and evaluation of plastics and additives
  • Assist with validating designed parts and assemblies by performing Finite Element Analysis or other simulations
  • Assist with preparing and building prototypes for design verification as well as highly finished prototypes for industry shows using a variety of methods, including 3D printing and hand tools
  • Assist with preparing documentation of parts and assemblies for manufacturing
  • Assist with reviewing component and tooling quotes and critique proposed tooling and tooling changes
  • Perform inspection and validation testing/fitment on T1 samples
  • Support Production as needed
  • Travel to domestic and international contract manufacturers as needed for product launches
  • Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
  • Complete the Annual CTPAT Security Training
  • Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
  • Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
  • Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary
