About The Position

Assist Planners/Estimators with reviewing Work Notifications (WNs) and writing specifications and changes for work items. Assist with developing detailed accurate labor and material estimates for shipboard/shop work and repairs to be accomplished on government and commercial vessels using drawings and specifications and on-site ship checks for interference and access problems. Assist with soliciting and evaluating subcontractor price quotations. Responsible for learning how to prepare, verify, and distribute accurate and timely planning, budgeting, and reporting products.

Requirements

  • Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to follow instruction and a willingness to learn.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be organized, punctual, and team-oriented.
  • Understanding of industrial quality, safety, and resource loading.
  • Familiar with technical specification writing, technical estimating, and U.S. Navy ship checking concepts.
  • Follow standard principles and systems and use appropriate terminology associated with a particular field of specialization.
  • Actively contribute to completion of team goals and assigned tasks.
  • Follow recommended approach to assigned work to facilitate achievement of desired results.
  • Typically work under direct and frequent supervision while performing routine duties using established procedures with detailed instructions
  • Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation.
  • Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required.
  • Must be able to gain access to all private and government work locations and or vessels.
  • Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear.
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination.
  • Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-house estimates for subcontractor work.
  • Assist Ship Managers and Area Managers with managing problem resolutions, growth, and new work change orders.
  • Create NMD availabilities, work specifications, and estimates.
  • Use expertise, experience, and available data to develop, issue and distribute planning documents.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Accomplish other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate baseline working knowledge of routine work applications.
  • Participate as a team member in a collaborative environment within a diverse workforce.
