About The Position

The post holder will join an established team of 11 ophthalmic technicians working within the Orthoptic Service, based at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary. The team is supported by an Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor & the Team works physically closely together in a room that houses four visual fields machines which means good team working & flexibility is essential. Team members also work holding single-handed clinics at the APEC & Cannock sites. Learning is supported by regular reflective practice sessions, 1:1s, & teaching from qualified clinical staff. Patient assessment: Perform Visual Field testing. Administrative: Assist with administrative & clerical tasks relating to provision of Orthoptic service. Advert Perform visual fields within Orthoptic Departmental protocols on Humphrey Field Analyser, liaising with senior staff where necessary in complex cases. Use the hospital computerised appointment system to: Make appointments for patient clinics. Undertake maintenance of patient records relating to attendance Support the running of the Orthoptic Department with a range of administrative & clerical tasks, many relating directly to incoming referrals & clinical enquiries. Deal with patient enquiries.
