Junior Operations Manager

Redemption RoastersLondon, CA
23hOnsite

About The Position

Are you a hands-on ops manager or multi-site manager who loves being on the floor and raising standards everywhere you go? At Redemption Roasters, we believe great coffee can change lives. Our mission is to reduce reoffending by training people in prison and supporting them into work on release – often in our own coffee shops. We’re looking for a full-time Junior Operations Manager to support our 12 London coffee shop managers. You’ll be the operational force that keeps our stores running brilliantly every day – coaching managers, enforcing consistent standards, solving practical problems, and ensuring our teams deliver excellent hospitality and exceptional coffee and food every day. This role is 100% store-based, not an office role. You’ll be out in our coffee shops daily, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our teams and stepping in to lead stores whenever needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in specialty coffee, 3 in café operations or multi-site operations roles in hospitality.
  • Strong hands-on coffee knowledge, including dial-in, workflows, and troubleshooting espresso machinery and equipment.
  • Experience supporting teams with cost control, waste management, recruitment, or training.
  • The right to work full-time in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the shop floor across all stores, ensuring warm hospitality, excellent coffee, great food, and high presentation standards every day.
  • Support Coffee Shop Managers with practical, real-world advice on cost management, sales performance, labour efficiency, and sensible financial decision-making.
  • Provide hands-on coaching for managers and teams during service, helping them build strong leadership, structured routines, and great shift execution.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training across the stores to help build strong, capable café teams.
  • Support managers with stock control, ordering, inventory accuracy, and waste reduction to protect margins and avoid unnecessary costs.
  • Troubleshoot coffee equipment issues (machines, grinders, Ubermilk), support correct maintenance routines, and help uphold specialty coffee standards.
  • Step in as the acting Coffee Shop Manager during manager vacancies, sickness, holidays, or emergencies - ensuring each café continues to operate smoothly and consistently.
  • Help roll out store refreshes, operational changes, menu updates, new systems, and new processes across the estate.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule including early starts, weekend availability (1-day minimum), and presence during peak service periods to best support the stores.
  • Champion our social mission by mentoring team members, supporting programme participants, and communicating our impact clearly and confidently.

Benefits

  • Support your growth with clear expectations, training, development, and regular coaching.
  • Give you the opportunity to shape operational excellence across our 12 London cafés.
  • Offer a role where the commercial and social purpose go hand in hand.
  • Empower you to make a genuine difference in a business committed to quality coffee reducing reoffending through coffee.
