About The Position

TEKsystems Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Network Technician to support our telecommunications infrastructure in the Greater Nashville Area. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics). Support the deployment and maintenance of VoIP systems, PBX hardware, and network devices. Perform basic troubleshooting of network and telecommunications connectivity issues. Help configure and label telecom closets, patch panels, and cross-connects. Conduct site surveys and assist with infrastructure upgrades and expansions. Maintain accurate documentation of cable runs, network diagrams, and equipment inventory. Collaborate with senior technicians and project managers to ensure timely and quality installations. Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry standards such as BICSI and EIA/TIA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, BICSI Installer) are a plus.
  • Entry-level experience or training in networking, telecommunications, or low-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with network and telecom equipment such as routers, switches, patch panels, and test tools.
  • Understanding of VoIP, PBX, and basic IP networking concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment, work on ladders, and use hand tools.
  • Flexibility to work in various environments including commercial and industrial settings.
