About The Position

Designed specifically for active military service members, Newrez’s DoD SkillBridge Fellowship enables transitioning service members to gain civilian work experience with a leading mortgage lender while learning how to transfer their skills to a corporate setting. This program helps service members begin their next mission with Newrez, assisting people in achieving the American Dream of Homeownership. A Junior Mortgage Consultant SkillBridge Fellow will learn the necessary tools to become a successful Mortgage Consultant. This includes studying for the SAFE MLO Test with dedicated instructors, which is a standardized test required for licensure. After successfully passing the exam, Sales Coaches will provide further training on effectively converting in-house leads into borrowers, utilizing proprietary software, and taking mortgage applications. Upon successful completion of the DoD SkillBridge Fellowship, candidates are expected to become Mortgage Consultants within an organization nationally recognized as a top Military Friendly Company and Brand.

Requirements

  • Must be current active duty military service member.
  • Received Unit Commander written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of program October 5, 2026.
  • Approved to complete 90-day SkillBridge Fellowship in Coppell, TX.
  • Ability to pass a background check required for state licensing.
  • Persuasive, selling communication skills.
  • Connect quickly with people in an outgoing, friendly manner.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly developed organizational and project/time-management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excel in a team-oriented, collaborative environment while contributing to the creation, design, and implementation of value-add business strategies that affect current operating practices and company policy.
  • Be able to clearly articulate and present ideas and findings to a varied audience, including the operations staff and senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with consumers, determine their needs, and offer the appropriate product.
  • Take mortgage loan applications by phone and prepare effective loan proposals.
  • Provide superior customer service.
  • Meet monthly production goals.
  • Stay informed of developing trends in the mortgage industry.
  • Performs assigned duties, under direction of experienced personnel, to gain knowledge and experience required.
  • These duties will involve Homeowner interface and decisioning in real world account management scenarios.
  • Develops a detailed understanding of our customer base.
  • Understands the competitive nature and marketplace of our business.
  • Develops a detailed understanding of the strategies and tactics we use to market to customers.
  • Receives training and performs duties in several functions in order to become familiar with line and staff functions, management viewpoints, company policies, and best practices.
  • Observes experienced workers to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties.
  • Will be required to attend company sponsored training classes and attain certain certifications.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.
