About The Position

Under the direction of the Plant Leadership, the Junior Lube Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, haul units, portable crushing and screening plants, and other earth moving equipment.andnbsp; The main objective of the Junior Lube Technician is to perform all lubrication activities to prevent failures and optimize operating costs. This position will be required to float around the Austin area plants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, or work experience required
  • Ability to read, write and verbally communicate in English language
  • Knowledge of maintenance of heavy equipment/Caterpillar and Komatsu preferred
  • Ability or willingness to learn use of computers
  • Ability or willingness to use mobile devices for e mails, texts and CMMS
  • Ability to work up to 60+ hours a week, depending on business needs
  • Work requires the ability to lift a maximum of 100 lbs
  • Must be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
  • Work requires the ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
  • Work requires the ability to use vibration tools
  • Work requires the ability to perform work while lying on back for prolonged periods of time and in some cases cramped quarters
  • Work requires the ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
  • Work is performed 50% outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather and 50% indoors
  • Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months+ heavy equipment maintenance experience preferred
  • Trade school or related mechanical/technical certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Must have a flexible work schedule and be able to work weekends
  • Inspect equipment during lubrication using the latest technology
  • Maintain lube storage and handling room
  • Properly dispose of used oil and filters
  • Prevent and clean oil spills and leaks
  • Order lubricants as required to maintain optimal stock
  • PM and repair lube systems or equipment
  • Maintain filters, breathers and other components
  • Collect and send oil samples for analysis as per schedule
