Black & Veatch is seeking a highly motivated person to function as a Junior Mechanical Engineer in the design of mechanical systems supporting Conventional and Renewable Power Generation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad. Under general supervision, perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems of responsibility. Acquire knowledge of both Black & Veatch and industry standards and implement them in project development. Prepare moderately complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop project design recommendations.

  • Work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad.
  • Perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems of responsibility.
  • Acquire knowledge of both Black & Veatch and industry standards and implement them in project development.
  • Prepare moderately complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop project design recommendations.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
  • Engineer-in-training (EIT) preferred, or in active pursuit of such licensure.
  • Familiarity with Instrument and/or Service Air Systems.
  • Familiarity with Demineralized (DM) water supply and make up systems.
  • Familiarity with Service and potable water supply system.
  • Familiarity with Natural, hydrogen, and nitrogen gas Supply System.
  • Familiarity with Closed cycle cooling water system.
  • Familiarity with High Pressure / Intermediate Pressure / Low / Auxiliary Steam system.
  • Familiarity with Feedwater and condensate systems.
  • Familiarity with CO2 Supply System.
  • Experience with calculations including pipe sizing calculations, pipe thickness calculations, pump sizing calculation, control valve sizing calculations, heat exchanger sizing, atm. tank sizing.
  • Experience with P&ID development.
  • Experience with air, gas, water & steam systems.
