Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time paid professional experience in Project/Construction Management, preferably supporting educational facilities and/or public agency projects, with involvement across all phases of construction (including pre-construction planning, monitoring construction progress, and close-out activities).
  • Experience with construction safety protocols, Cal/OSHA requirements, and environmental procedures.
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Possession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential may be substituted for the required education.
  • Candidates who do not meet the education requirement may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis and demonstrate extensive proficiency in the duties indicated.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and oversight of all facets of pre-construction, project development, bid/award, and project close-out for assigned projects.
  • Work closely with the Planning & Development Project Manager (PDPM) to validate existing site conditions in preparation of project scope.
  • Draft concept drawings to support visualization of project scope.
  • Review design team feedback and proposed scopes of work; provide recommendations to the PDPM.
  • Draft project status/progress reports for the PDPM and management.
  • Coordinate with pertinent public agencies to complete federal and state requirements as needed; coordinate with utility and government agencies to obtain timely action on successive phases of project completion.
  • Support the PDPM in monitoring project budgets and ensuring budgets accurately reflect project status and progress.
  • Assist with reviewing project status and overall planning, design, and construction progress; help ensure scope remains within the approved project definition.
  • Assist the project team with A/E contracts, bid planning, and contract planning.
  • Assist with development of project/program policy guidelines and procedures; suggest improvements.
  • Recommend new developments and strategies affecting program objectives and results.
  • Work with technical personnel to estimate building costs and changes.
  • Maintain facility inventory maps using AutoCAD.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
