We are seeking a Junior Linux System Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The successful candidate will: Be a strong innovator in process improvement and system design Be able to quickly learn challenging concepts, decompose difficult software problems, and provide resolution(s) Be able to create and follow standard processes and clearly document results Be ambitious, inquisitive, and goal-oriented Have a strong understanding of system administration concepts

Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of directly related experience in relevant business systems, operating systems, and servers and/or experience in light programming, project management of small initiatives, and troubleshooting
  • Must have an active DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE or higher
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and sustain Linux based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center
  • Administer VMware Tanzu and container Repositories/Registries
  • Support network engineers, system engineers, cybersecurity engineers, and additional system administrators, to provide high quality, innovative engineering services to the Government customer
  • Conduct daily system monitoring, system backup and disaster recovery, and application upgrades to ensure optimal and continuous system operations
  • Manage and maintain task assignments by updating task tracking software with work notes, blockers, status, etc.
  • Comply with organizational systems administration standard operating procedures
  • Manage accounts and access to Linux systems and equipment
  • Be responsible for ensuring system software installs, maintenance, break/fix activities, and cyber security mitigations are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
  • Conduct functional, security, and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability of Linux based infrastructure
