About The Position

Candidate will provide support as an Electrical Test/Design Junior Engineer for the Motion Imagery System for the SLS (Space Launch System) vehicle as part of the Artemis lunar campaign. This is part of the Imagery Team within the Space Systems Department at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) that develops imagery systems in support of both space manned flight and science missions. The selected candidate will support development, manufacturing, designing, testing, and the necessary documentation of Imagery Systems including future Artemis camera hardware. Emphasis will be hands-on design, development, and qualification testing of flight cameras and components, designing flight encoders and camera controllers, as well as coordination with multiple discipline engineers to ensure that the motion imagery system is operationally effective per flight requirements.

Requirements

  • At least a BS degree from an ABET accredited institution in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 0 - 4 years of related experience is desired. Experience to include, but not be limited to, working in electrical design, electrical/mechanical testing and assembly, and vehicle/subsystem integration.
  • The ability to be proactive between formal assignments, and complete tasks with minimal direction
  • Ability to design and develop electrical subsystems
  • Flexibility in work assignments, efficiently transitioning between objectives assigned in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to identify system gaps, propose and develop appropriate solutions
  • Experience in preparing/presenting presentations on technical subjects
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Products: PowerPoint/Excel/Word/Teams/Outlook or Equivalent
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the design, development, documentation and performance testing of space flight systems
  • Experience in the design and development of electrical systems
  • An understanding of imagery systems and/or imagery analysis
  • Ability to coordinate and integrate various disciplines/areas including mechanical, ground support systems, imagery
  • Experience in working with space flight hardware

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical feasibility assessments of hardware and software
