About The Position

We are actively seeking a Secret–cleared Junior Laboratory Technician to support the Department of Defense. On this contract, we support R&D, S&T, and experimentation and testing to influence system design and development for a broad spectrum of technologies. These technologies will include development and testing of prototypes and biological systems to support biological defense. Note: The period of performance for this contract begins in June. Work Description: The Junior Laboratory Technician provides hands-on support to chemical and biological laboratories and test environments supporting research, science and technology (S&T), experimentation, and developmental test and evaluation activities. The technician assists with the setup, operation, maintenance, and teardown of laboratory and test equipment, materials, and experimental apparatus to ensure laboratory and test operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established procedures and program requirements. In support of test and evaluation mission objectives, the technician contributes to laboratory operations across biology, chemistry, materials, and quality assurance research efforts. Responsibilities include preparing, processing, and supporting chemical, biological, and physical tests and experiments; assisting with qualitative and quantitative material analyses; operating standard and specialized laboratory equipment; and maintaining accurate logs, records, and documentation related to equipment status, maintenance, and experimental activities. The technician supports the operability of designated laboratory hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, assists with installation, configuration, integration, and initialization activities, and helps identify equipment malfunctions or technical issues affecting laboratory or test operations. The role may include supporting verification and validation (V&V), participating in test preparation and execution, recording experimental data, and assisting with data review and analysis under the direction of senior technical staff. This position may also support general laboratory maintenance and housekeeping, inventory tracking of materials and consumables, preparation of test objects and samples, and participation in program reviews, audits, or test readiness activities. Support may include occasional travel or temporary duty (TDY) to support mission-related testing and experimentation. U.S. citizenship is required, and the selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Physical/biological/chemical science or equivalent entry-level experience
  • Secret level clearance, or ability to obtain
  • Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited university in biology or chemistry
  • Demonstrated experience in three (3) of the four (4) of the following areas:
  • Setting up, performing, and evaluating chemical, biological, and/or physical tests and experiments following documented protocols and procedures under direct supervision
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of laboratory test equipment, apparatus, and methods including pipettes, immunoassay, and Polymerase Chain Reaction
  • Familiarity with preparation and processes for experimental operations involving formulations, precise calibration, sampling, experimental techniques and concepts
  • Familiarity with scientific test procedures and documentation
