About The Position

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Junior Inspector to join our Infrastructure – Transportation Team at our Columbia, SC office. CHA provides a full complement of construction administration and inspection services to monitor, record and deliver successful projects. Our inspection team includes seasoned certified construction professionals cross-trained in design, risk management, and health and safety compliance to underscore our commitment to stringent standards. Our team understands that small details can have a big impact. The Junior Inspector is responsible for observing and documenting the construction of highways, streets, roadways, and other transportation structures. This includes monitoring construction for conformance with contract documents and shop drawings/material submittals, recording field observations, and verifying construction conforms to quality control plans. The professional in this role will collect data, write reports, and coordinate sampling and testing. Additionally, the Junior Inspector prepares and maintains project records in accordance with company, client, and/or government standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; an associate’s degree in engineering science, construction management, or related technical field preferred.
  • Valid US driver's license required.
  • SCDOT Construction certifications are a plus.
  • No prior experience required; however, prior construction or construction observation experience preferred.
  • Experience with AWP is a plus.
  • Able to comprehend construction plans and specifications.
  • Understands and follows company standards, demonstrates knowledge of construction techniques, and assists mid-to-senior level team members with complex projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong mathematics skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Extensive travel may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction or construction observation experience preferred.
  • Experience with AWP is a plus.
  • SCDOT Construction certifications are a plus.

Benefits

  • Salary range: $19.00 - $23.00 based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation.
