Position Overview: The Junior Government Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and decisioning Government loans and clearing conditions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of processing experience in the retail mortgage lending industry.
  • Experience with Encompass.
  • Working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC eligibility guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Fully underwrite VA IRRRL loans and FHA Streamline loans.
  • Meet minimum production requirements set forth by department manager.
  • Review loan documentation for accuracy and make updates as needed, including but not limited to:
  • Review documentation within the LOS for credit approval.
  • Review documents returned from processing and update conditions as needed.
  • Review the loan, determining what additional documentation is needed.
  • Communicate directly with the branch, Underwriting, and management team via phone or email when necessary.
  • Maintain SLAs on all reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, private investor requirements, and company policies and procedures.
