About The Position

As an Junior Flight Test Engineer with MTSI, you will be responsible for planning, provisioning, conducting, and reporting fast paced, streamlined flight test operations in support of the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) in Tucson, AZ. The Candidate will perform operational testing for the latest F-16 operational flight programs, data link gateway operations, and special warfare systems and weapons. The candidate will support AATC located in Tucson, AZ. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Assist the AATC F-16 CTF director in identifying Operational Flight Program changes to modernize and increase lethality for the F-16. Accomplish studies on viability, participate in design reviews with the F-16 program office and AATC pilots/engineers. Plan for flight testing, draft test plans/reports, draft test information sheets, conduct pre-mission and post-mission briefs and mission reviews with project pilots. Archive and analyze test mission data and assist with candidate adjustments and engineering changes as required. Work closely with AATC Data Links and industry vendors to implement commercial/government off-the-shelf and developmental improvements to AATC Data Link gateway system. Operate the AATC data link gateway when needed to support full spectrum AATC operations. Responsible for technical implementation of required software and hardware architecture in coordination with the efforts of AATC government and program office personnel. Assist Special Warfare division as needed to research commercial off the shelf systems and conduct operational test of systems as applicable. Provide expertise in the following areas: operational and developmental test planning & execution (particularly in the fighter aircraft environment); test plan formulation; basic aircraft/system data bus architectures to include PPD and mil-standard 1553 & Ethernet; and data analysis tools. Develop an understanding of the operation and tactical applications of the above systems and their interfaces. The candidate will directly support AATC in the development of advanced combat systems from cradle to grave in an independent, high-energy environment and will operate in multidisciplinary teams of industry, government and military personnel consisting of engineers, analysts, scientists, pilots and other aircrew. The candidate must have a can-do attitude and be self-starting, ambitious, and hard-working.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years’ of p ractical engineering or test and evaluation experience.
  • Strong desire to learn new systems and propose new ideas for F-16 systems, software, and design.
  • Experience with test and development, to include change proposal/selection, test plan writing, design of test, test provisioning/scheduling, test execution, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with common design tools and data analysis tools such as MATLAB.
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills.
  • Good analytic skills and capable of operating in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; a background in special access programs is highly desired.
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • B.S. in technical discipline is required, preferably in aeronautical/aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the design/use and aircraft data bus architecture.
  • Experience as a pilot/aircrew.
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline is desired.
