Neal Electric, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a Jr. Estimator based out of our Carlsbad, CA location. The ideal candidate will focus on learning and applying estimating procedures, leveraging software tools, and supporting the team to ensure project proposals align with company and client expectations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • General knowledge of the various disciplines and procedures utilized by the Construction industry is preferred
  • Possess a valid class C California driver's license
  • Field experience in electrical construction/construction is preferred but not required
  • Ability to learn and operate estimating software systems efficiently
  • Basic understanding of electrical construction methods and materials
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Excel and knowledge of spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to accurately enter data and perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate workloads with Supervisor

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with a background in electrical installation and knowledge of NEC regulations to bring added value and expertise to the team

Responsibilities

  • Provide estimating support for numerous projects
  • Perform entry level quantity take-offs of electrical drawings for estimating purposes
  • Organize bid documents and assist with the completion and submission of proposals and bid forms
  • Request and receive quotes working directly with subs and suppliers
  • Communicate, build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, clients, vendors and subcontractors
  • Perform additional assignments as directed by direct Supervisor
  • Learn to interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents to determine the scope of work
  • Assist with performing takeoffs and preparing cost estimates for electrical construction projects
  • Use industry tools like Bluebeam and Accubid to prepare accurate take-offs and scope calculations
  • Request material and equipment quotes from vendors and equipment suppliers
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes
  • Review quotes for completeness with plans and specifications
