About The Position

The basic function of the Jr Estimator is to help prepare complete estimates for assigned projects.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelors Degree in engineering or equivalent technical training.
• Position requires knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control.
• Position requires the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential.
• Must be able to work under stressful deadline situations.
• Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to comprehend business math and interpret data from various sources.
• Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending and flexing the arms, wrists, and fingers are required.
• The senses required are being able to see and hear and having full power of speech.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced computer skills are desired.

Responsibilities

• Review and incorporate data from various sources to prepare estimate.
• Review proposed specifications and drawings for estimate.
• Maintain back-up figures for all estimates.
• Track awarded contracts.
• Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Help prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
• Maintain files to working documents as back-up for estimating figures.
• Follow awarded contracts as assigned – may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits; procuring material, etc.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
