About The Position

We are looking to hire a JUNIOR ESTIMATOR in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The successful candidate will The successful candidate will support the full estimating lifecycle by performing accurate quantity takeoffs, gathering cost data, and coordinating with vendors and project teams. This role will help prepare detailed estimates, assist with change orders, and develop skills with digital tools while contributing to a collaborative and deadline driven environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a technical Associate's degree preferred.
  • Some relevant experience, 0-3 years in a multi-trade construction environment, preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a professional manner
  • Works efficiently under tight timeframes, responds to requests in a timely manner, and communicates effectively as a team player
  • Understands the importance of being able to multi-task

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with standard construction management applications (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, Navisworks, Plangrid, Procore, Primavera, or related applications).

Responsibilities

  • Model safe work practices and ensure all estimating activities align with company safety requirements.
  • Deliver accurate and detailed electronic quantity takeoffs using LiveCount or Bluebeam.
  • Assist in the collection, aggregation, and processing of cost data for estimates.
  • Support project teams in the quantification and production of change orders.
  • Draft and submit a detailed list of clarifications for all assigned scope.
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and lead times.
  • Help maintain an organized directory of suppliers an subcontractors.
  • Become more efficient at prioritization and learn to work within tight deadlines.
  • Ask questions, seek clarity, and progressively take on more complex scopes.
  • Document lessons learned from completed projects.
  • Suggest small process improvements or tools that enhance efficiency.
  • Learn, apply, and maximize the efficient use of digital takeoff tools, estimating software, cost management systems, and supporting applications.
  • Maintain neat and accurate digital project files.
  • Support the estimating team with any additional tasks assigned by the estimator or chief estimator.
