This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Junior Environmental Engineer with the potential to work out of our Tacoma, WA office. Be involved in projects with our Federal Environmental Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. The successful candidate will be involved with providing local technical assistance for the design, development, and implementation of environmental programs for the public and private sectors. Tasks may include basic assistance with field investigations and the research, concept development, design and construction of sediment, soil, and groundwater remediation systems. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of each project undertaken. They will ensure that assignments are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards and project requirements for design, safety, and functionality. Work will include a mixture of field and office assignments; some travel is likely, including overnight stays. Your Impact Assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from samples of soil, water, sediment, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys. Perform basic professional civil and environmental engineering work relating to hazardous or solid waste facilities, industrial and agricultural facilities, pollution sources, existing site conditions, and water resources. Assist with performing basic engineering work relating to research, investigation, and evaluation of existing site conditions, regulatory records, and site operational history to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits. Perform routine data evaluation functions using company-provided software programs and provide junior level technical assistance on various design requirements and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, systems, and infrastructure. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field notebooks/logs. Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on various environmental issues. Write technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and software. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which pertain to activities including, but not limited to, collection of site characterization data, engineering studies and surveys, and construction. Complete training and implement lessons learned on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources and personal conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional related responsibilities as required by business needs.
