About The Position

The Junior Process Engineer supports the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of the lignin manufacturing plant, including liquid and powder production and packaging processes. The role involves monitoring process performance, analyzing data, and troubleshooting operational issues to maintain stable and efficient production. The engineer assists in process improvement initiatives to enhance yield, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness, while collaborating with cross-functional teams—including operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS—to resolve technical challenges. Additionally, the position contributes to capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process modifications under guidance from senior engineers, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards and maintaining accurate process documentation.

Requirements

2-3 years relevant Engineering experience.
B.S. in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Effectively utilize Microsoft Office suite and Teams.
Experience with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects at once, while still being able to maintain deadlines.
Able to think critically and use various tools for problem solving.

Nice To Haves

4+ years relevant Engineering experience.
Previous manufacturing experience.
Industry experience with flow, mass and heat balances.
Hands on experience with process optimization, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience with statistical analysis.
SAP experience.
Familiarity with Electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
Familiarity with distributed control systems (DeltaV or similar).
Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
