About The Position

You’ll get to work with a dynamic and growing team of Electrical/Marine/Mechanical/Structural Engineers and Naval Architects. You will be tasked to solve and manage various technical problems in the area of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems in support of the Machinery and Systems Engineering Managers. You’ll provide technical support on various engineering ship design projects as an individual contributor but also as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain required clearance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with complex technical issues.
  • The ability to create graphical representations and PowerPoints
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Capable to perform design ship checks onboard MSC and Navy ships

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering site visits and ship checks at various Navy and Commercial Shipyards and conduct surveys which you will generate analyses and create AutoCAD design drawings of Mechanical and control system modifications which comply with commercial and naval engineering requirements.
  • Development of marine auxiliary and piping systems, review and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation and development of ship system specifications.
  • Review and analysis of mechanical and electrical propulsion systems, and auxiliary/ piping systems for technical data packages developed to support design and construction of Navy and commercial vessels.
  • Provide engineering services support to including Spec writing, design, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, marine drawing, selected record drawing (SRD) updates, ship checks and other technical work document preparation in accordance with drawing standards and good marine design practice.
  • Self-Starter, multi-task capability, technically savvy, interpersonal skills, team player and ability to market our CACI team capabilities.
