About The Position

The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking Junior Engineers to join our Design Unit in various sections. Successful candidates will be provided with hands-on training and will contribute to a range of engineering tasks, from moderate to complex. Responsibilities include conducting research studies, engineering investigations, and assessments related to various engineering functions. Additionally, the candidates will carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under the supervision of an Engineer-In-Charge. The scope of work and training encompasses one or more of the following specialized areas: design, drafting, engineering investigations, cost estimation, specification writing, structural calculations, conducting field surveys, and participating in design-related site inspections.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main).
  • Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Personal vehicle.

Responsibilities
