About The Position

We are looking for a Junior Electrical Manufacturing Engineer specializing in wire harness fabrication and vehicle integration for our unmanned aircraft platforms. You will be the technical lead on the production floor, ensuring that complex electrical systems-including power distribution, flight controllers, and sensor arrays-are built to aerospace standards. Your goal is to ensure electrical systems and components are lightweight, durable, and effectively integrated into the airframe.

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 0–2 years (Experience with RC aircraft, drones, or formula SAE/solar car teams is highly valued).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading complex wiring schematics and 3D routing models. Hands-on skills with precision crimp tools, wire strippers, and soldering stations. Understanding of wire gauges (AWG), insulation types (Tefzel/PTFE), and shielding techniques.
  • Mindset: Attention to detailing aerospace, a single loose pin can lead to a "lost link" event.
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED Yes
  • ABILITY TO OBTAIN SECURITY CLEARANCE Yes

Nice To Haves

  • Industry Standards: Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies).
  • CAD Experience: Experience with SolidWorks Electrical , CATIA V5/V6 , or KiCAD .
  • UAS Knowledge: Familiarity with Pixhawk/ArduPilot ecosystems, PWM/SBUS protocols, and high-voltage battery (LiPo) safety.
  • Testing: Experience using automated cable testers (e.g., Cirris or DIT-MCO).

Responsibilities

  • Harness Fabrication Support: Oversee the assembly of complex wire harnesses, including connector crimping, soldering, shielding for EMI/EMC, and heat-shrinkage.
  • System Integration: Assist technicians in the physical routing of harnesses within the airframe to ensure proper bend radii and vibration resistance.
  • DFM for Flight: Provide feedback to the design team to optimize wire routing for weight reduction and ease of maintenance in the field.
  • Testing & Continuity: Perform high-pot, continuity, and signal integrity testing on completed harnesses before they are integrated into the aircraft.
  • Tooling & Fixtures: Design and maintain harness assembly boards (formboards) and specialized jigs for repeatable, high-accuracy fabrication.
  • Failure Analysis: Troubleshoot "ghost" signals or power drops during ground tests and implement corrective actions for the production line

Benefits

  • At Griffon Aerospace, you'll be part of a team developing next generation unmanned aerial systems for national defense.
  • You'll gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your contributions directly impact critical defense capabilities.
  • We offer opportunities for professional growth and the chance to work on innovative projects that make a difference.
