About The Position

This position serves as a Junior Developer, supporting the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR), and is responsible for application development and support for systems of normal complexity. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of internal and public-facing websites and web applications using tools such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), SharePoint, and Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Dataverse, Power BI). You will also work with  HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and other supported technologies to build adaptive forms, automate business processes, and support data collections and reporting needs. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related field.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience in Application Services or a related Information Technology field.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic, public-facing websites using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or comparable web content management systems, utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON to support system integration and enhance digital solutions.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience administering SharePoint Site Collections, including site configuration, list / library management, permissions, and integration with Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI, Dataverse) and the use of DAX calculations and SQL queries to support collaborative business solutions.
  • Requires one (1) year of professional experience developing and implementing form-based data collection solutions using AEM Forms for adaptive HTML forms, AEM Forms Designer (formally LiveCycle Designer) for dynamic PDF forms, Adobe Acrobat for static PDF forms, and scripting with JavaScript and FormCalc, ensuring data integrity and user accessibility across platforms.

  • One (1) year of professional experience providing proactive and responsive support for scheduled and remedial maintenance of websites or web applications, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and issue resolution to ensure continuous system availability.
  • One (1) year of professional experience conducting comprehensive testing and quality assurance (QA) process, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing, followed by successful implementation of web applications in alignment with detailed design specifications.
  • Ability to logically analyze complex data and workflows, identify root causes of operational or procedural issues, and implement effective, data-driven solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and initiative in fast-paced, cross-functional environments, with a strong aptitude for quickly learning new technologies, managing shifting priorities, and contributing to high-impact projects under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and solution-oriented work environment.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences, including documentation, training materials, and status reports.

Responsibilities

  • Under general direction, serves as a Junior Developer  for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDoR), performing difficult and specialized professional work in Web Application Development Services, serving as an application developer for a system or subsystem(s) of average complexity and prepares general design, detail design, and program specifications documentation.
  • Serves as support for scheduled and remedial maintenance to assigned websites and web applications.
  • Assists in the integration and development of web-based solutions by applying foundational programming skills and collaborating with technical teams to ensure high-quality, standards-compliant applications.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms, meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
