Collaborating closely with our Senior Data Scientist, this role will be vital in our team's efforts to identify project opportunities, operationalize & continuously improve our analytical processes, and increase the collective impact of Wonderful's procurement teams. This role is a great opportunity for someone: With foundational experience in data science and eager to learn by doing, working alongside the Senior Data Scientist and Analytics team. Passionate about the full scope and lifecycle of real-world, operationalized data science work (not just EDA and modeling). Eager to work on the “big picture” by helping define strategic priorities, identify problems / enhancements, and craft processes. Comfortable navigating ambiguity while working on impactful projects from design to planning to execution. To succeed, you will need robust analytical capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. To thrive, you must be creative and curious, with an unwavering appetite to learn, improve, and make an impact. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday. Our office is located at 11444 W.   • Analyze spend data to identify trends and opportunities across all The Wonderful Company's business units
  • Plan and execute analytical projects while managing multiple ongoing and ad hoc initiatives
  • Lead data-related problem-solving efforts and prioritize / drive efforts to clean, validate, and prepare data for analysis and modeling
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and support continuous refinement of our machine learning classification workflow
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports to support ongoing opportunity identification and spend category management
  • Develop and implement KPIs and other metrics for monitoring supplier performance, identifying project opportunities, and ensuring contract compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, fostering communication and building strong relationships
  • Develop a strong understanding of available data sources and how to manipulate and integrate them to generate valuable insights
  • Identify opportunities to improve underlying data quality in collaboration with IT and business unit teams
  • Synthesize findings and share compelling opportunities with business unit teams
  • Become familiar with capabilities and best practices for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, including Oracle Data Science and Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse
  • BA/BS in an analytical field (e.g., Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in data science role (preferred) or other analytical business function
  • Experience within the food and beverage or consumer-packaged goods industry a plus
  • Comfort using Python or R languages to work on data science tasks on large datasets
  • Experience with text analysis, textual data, and/or language models a plus
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Well-developed critical thinking abilities
  • Comfort navigating uncertainty and solving problems by identifying creative solutions and acquiring new skills
  • Desire to learn about the company and build relationships across the enterprise
  • Familiarity with DAX, Power Query, and/or SQL a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
