Cresco Labs is seeking a Junior Copywriter to join our growing in-house creative team, The HotBox, in Chicago, IL. The HotBox leads B2B and B2C creative across key channels including In-Store, Ecommerce, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Rewards, Social, and Internal Initiatives. The Junior Copywriter supports the execution of a variety of written deliverables for both retail and wholesale brands. Responsibilities include assisting in the development of web copy, email campaigns, social media content, in-store messaging, promotional materials, event communications, internal communications, and branded collateral. This role focuses on building strong foundational writing skills while learning brand voice, compliance considerations, and messaging systems across all touchpoints. In this position, you will collaborate closely with members of the creative team to support initiatives that strengthen Cresco’s national presence. The Junior Copywriter reports to a Mid-Level Copywriter and works in partnership with Senior Copywriters and Design leadership to grow technical expertise and creative confidence.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years professional writing experience (in-house or agency).
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong foundational writing skills.
  • Familiarity with writing for digital channels including email and social media.
  • Strong grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to follow established tone and voice guidelines.
  • Comfortable receiving and implementing feedback.
  • Basic research skills and ability to synthesize information into clear messaging.
  • Passion for the cannabis industry.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the need for current or future sponsorship at any time.

Responsibilities

  • Draft copy assignments under direction from senior copy leadership.
  • Translate briefs into clear, on-brand messaging aligned with established tone and voice.
  • Adapt messaging across formats including email, social, web, and in-store.
  • Implement requested revisions accurately throughout the review process.
  • Support high-volume promotional and CRM messaging execution.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure alignment between messaging and visuals.
  • Maintain attention to detail and ensure grammatical accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Learn compliance considerations specific to regulated industries.
  • Conduct basic research to support messaging accuracy and audience relevance.
  • Assist in organizing and formatting copy decks or documentation for review.
  • Develop familiarity with performance-based messaging concepts within CRM and promotional campaigns.
  • Stay current on writing trends and tools to continue developing skill set.
