About The Position

This is an entry-level technical position of Junior Controls Engineer. The primary purpose of the Controls Engineer position is to use your engineering education, and on-the-job training achieved to design, program, and field verify the desired operation of the controls systems. This design should incorporate the desires of our end customers, consulting engineers, and our own engineers, programmers, and graphic artists. Through a series of end-of-process system and start-up checks, you will ensure the total package we deliver meets the design intent for installation, sequence of operations, specifications, and customer system interaction. Travel will be required to perform on -site startup of controls systems. Software, hardware and program design & verification, system integrations, field testing and troubleshooting required. Any knowledge of HVAC systems and low voltage controls is a plus.

  • Education and /or Experience - Four Year College or University program degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Engineering Physics, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Software related experience and training is a plus.)
  • have knowledge of common construction methods and tools as well as NEC and CMS code.
  • Have a working knowledge of electrical design concepts and HVAC machinery operation (both mechanically and electrically).
  • Online Alerton training certification will be provided.
  • A previous history or proven desire to understand, troubleshoot, and work hands - on with various pieces of equipment, electronics, pc hardware, software, databases, processes, networks, or smart integrated devices will aid in a successful transition into this position and the industry as a whole.
  • Computer Skills - Knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Word, AutoCAD, and Office 360.
  • Knowledge of software/IT/Database/ Network/Data Line troubleshooting required.
  • Must be skilled in verbal and written communication as well as work effectively with the public.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or high heat conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; electrical shock and vibration. Being physically present at the office of the company with face-to-face contact is an essential function of this job.
  • Must be able to travel to job sites for on-site start-up and commissioning service to customers.

Responsibilities

  • In-office controls system engineering Ability to recognize the intent of any system and ensure its operation.
  • Review estimate and contract documents.
  • Size vales Complete controls design package in AutoCAD
  • In-office controls system programming Ability to recognize the intent of any system and ensure its operation.
  • Review control system drawings and equipment sequences of operation.
  • Create programs (DDC, point data, displays, and templates)
  • Start-up, commission, and provide field technical support for all control components to ensure proper functionality per specifications and owners requirements.
  • Provide support for BMS integration issues as needed.
  • Assist in controls system start-up and customers computer set-up.
  • Provide system support and training for customers and internal staff as needed.
  • Take service calls and provide technical support via telephone and remote access.
  • Assist with any parts delivery or service needed to guarantee completion of jobs as designated in scope of work.
